Yesterday Charlie and I set out on our trip to Pittsburgh. We got in around 8:00 last evening after a beautiful drive down the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the new campaign van, a 2000 Chrysler Voyager.

Upon arriving in town we went to an event in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh, where Charlie picked up his guitar and jammed with a fantastic jazz band. I learned that whenever there is music its going to be difficult for me to get Charlie to talk to voters, but he managed to talk to most of the people there and impressed them and myself with his skills on the guitar, he can play just about anything and kicked into some great solos, but confessed to me later that he was a little rusty, the rest of the band didn't seem to mind they agreed with me that he was pretty good. Several of the guests at the event quipped that this was the longest time any politician had spent in Homewood; Charlie said, "I'm not a politician." He really is not, he may be running for office but he certainly isn't a politician as usual.

Today we are going to meet with several folks and community groups and hopefully I can talk Charlie into going to Parmani Brother's for a sandwich later. On Monday we will be marching in the Labor Day Parade here in Pittsburgh. I'll keep everyone up to date as our adventure out here continues.
