White House is Endangering National Security for Political Gain
"The intentional disclosure of a covert operative's identity violates federal law. A senior administration official said two top White House officials called at least six Washington journalists and revealed the identity and occupation of Wilson's wife. That was shortly after Wilson revealed in July that the CIA had sent him to Niger last year to look into the uranium claim and that he had found no evidence to back up the charge. Wilson's account eventually touched off a controversy over Bush's use of intelligence as he made the case for attacking Iraq. 'Clearly, it was meant purely and simply for revenge,' the senior official said of the alleged leak." --Washington Post, Saturday September 27th The Bush administration has engaged in blatant illegal activity in an effort to intimidate those who tell the truth about its lies. Bush lied about Iraq attempting to buy uranium from Niger, and when Wilson-- a CIA agent-- revealed that Bush and the current administration lied about it, the White House retaliated by leaking the name of an undercover CIA agent to the press. Karl Rove is apparently implicated by Wilson. If Bush knew, it's a felony. But typical shielding of the President will likely protect him. Heads should roll. Bush promoted his own character when he ran for office, offering it as an alternative to Clinton's, saying he wanted to restore "dignity" to the White House. I challenge Bush to restore dignity to the White House, fire those responsible and have them brought to justice. If he did know, he should himself step down.
