Crystle Is Speaker for Venango County Dems

Charlie Crystle will be the featured speaker at the Venango County Democratic Party's fall dinner on Saturday, Oct. 11. The event, scheduled at the Franklin Club, will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m.

Reservations are required and may be made by Tuesday with party chairwoman Barb Criste at 676-5971. Local candidates will also offer remarks.

Crystle earned a B.A. degree in English from the University of Delaware in 1991. He started a computer company, Versicom, in 1994, and two years later transformed it into a commercial software company, Chili!Soft. The company expanded, moved to Seattle, Wash., and was eventually acquired by Sun Microsystems.

He later founded Mission Research of Lancaster and now serves as CEO. Mission Research is dedicated to helping nonprofit organizations focus more resources on their core missions and less on technical operations.

One of Crystle's key activities is serving as an advocate for disadvantaged children in Central America and the U.S.

Crystle plans to seek the Democratic nod in 2004 to oppose U.S. Senator Arlen Specter's bid for re-election.
