Mr. Crystle goes to Washington?

The Insider, from the Seattle PI reports that:

Crystle's grass-roots campaign certainly would resonate with some Seattle technology workers. One of his biggest issues is the abuse of H1-B and L-1 visas, the foreign-worker visas used by high-tech companies like Microsoft and Intel.

"This is terrible for America. The American technology worker loses his job to cheap labor, and then his replacement is paid a pittance and often works in sweatshop conditions," said Crystle in a recent challenge to other candidates about the issue. "The bottom line is clear: No one wins, except for corporate politicians and their corporate friends who fund their campaigns."

As part of his attack on the foreign-visa system, Crystle is sponsoring a petition drive at www.crystleforsenate.com/visa.html.

Yes Sam, there are other under-40 Democrats running for the US Senate. Dan Hynes is the frontrunner for the Democratic primary in Illinois, while Michelle Nunn may be running for the Senate in Georgia (both are Democrats). With Don Nickles retiring, expect Congressman Brad Carson to run for his seat (he's a Democrat also). And, of course, there's our man Charlie.

Thanks, Stephen--these are great suggestions. I think the more younger people we get involved the better. I'm supporting a number of young candidates this year--people who are not currently politicians but they have big hearts, good ideas, and a lot of energy. The more, the better! We really have to work hard to get back to democracy and serving people--corporate politicians have lost touch. Thanks for your support--I really appreciate it.

I sure hope you go to Washington...D.C, that is. I think, Charlie, that you have a winning strategy here. If you haven't already, I would suggest two things:

1)Reach out to the miners and workers in the Coal Mines of West Pennsylvania. They're suffering badly from job losses, and your plan would seem really attractive to them, I think.

2)Reach out to college and post-grad students. Your "Hip Factor" would appeal to them, as you're young, energetic and eager to change the world for the better. In particular, I would contact http://www.YDemsCan.net-they support Democrats under 40 who run for public office. They help elect Tim Ryan to Congress in 2002. They're a progressive bunch, so I think you'd appeal well to them.

Also, GIVE 'EM HELL, CHARLIE!
