Offshoring Press Conference Video Clip
Catch video of me, AFL CIO state Pres Bill George, and Rep Mike McGeehan blasting offshoring at a press conference early Tuesday. Update: ...and apparently the Department of Labor and Industry called to say that Careerlink, the site for jobless Pennsylvanians, is a project worked on by a Lancaster-based company. What they failed to mention is the next version is currently being worked on by imported cheap labor brought in under the L-1 exemption. But hey, even the Dept of Labor has a budget to meet, so screw the locals, eh? The project I referred to has been worked on for 2 years BOTH by offshore labor AND by workers brought here under BOTH the H-1B and L-1 Visas, and worse, they're located in Maryland. So Department of Labor, you might want to work on your story before you lie to the public about what you're doing with their money. Also, Infotech called the Patriot to complain and said they use cheap foreign labor, but not on their state contracts, which they severely underbid for some reason (perhaps their costs are just naturally low?). My sources tell me they are lying. The building is shaking. We need more people willing to stand up for local jobs and speak out against the offshoring and insourcing--please spread the word!
