Health Care for All: Pittsburgh Meeting Feb 28th
"Rats and roaches live by competition under the laws of supply and demand. It is the privilege of human beings to live under the laws of justice and mercy." - Wendell Berry
On Saturday, February 28th at 12 pm, the Pittsburgh branch of PUSH (Pennsylvanians United for Single Payer Health Care) meets at the Steelworkers building in downtown PIttsburgh. At 2 pm we will be joined by a number of state legislators, including State Senators Ferlo and Kukovich. Please join us this weekend, or, if you can't make it, please contact me to set up an organizing meeting in your town. Have a great weekend, and remember "your playing small doesn't serve the world."

online casinos Posted by: casinos at May 25, 2004 06:11 PMThanks for coming to the meeting. As I understand it the committees made some progress, but I agree the rest of the meeting wasn't very focused. The March meeting will be very focused--it will be the first time we have a specific plan of action. Keep in mind this was only our third meeting and we're already producing literature and have a functional website (pushnow.org). From here, though, we need to focus on mobilizing the grass roots effort, expanding across the state, and pressuring the congressional delegation. I look forward to your continued participation. Posted by: Charlie at February 29, 2004 01:56 AMAlthough the timing was not good for any lengthy discussion I appreciated the opportunity to briefly chat with you following the meeting. I would like to follow up with a longer session and I admire and appreciate what you are doing, but I am concerned that PUSH lacks focus. Assuming you get the attention you seek, without a plan people will get frustrated and you will lose them. I also think that constantly repeating the same social injustice theme is not going to win any new converts. The best strategy is to show the opponents what is in it for them, and if you can they will begin to demand the changes we both seek. I think the American HealthCare Party is a way to draw people from differing political leanings to the cause - but it only works as a temporary, one issue, vehicle. The Green Party is going nowhere because it marginalizes itself with so many perceived far left positions. If you have the time to really hear me out I have the time to do the same. Whether we work together, or independently, I am a grateful for what you are giving to the cause. Steve Larchuk Posted by: Steve Larchuk at February 28, 2004 10:20 PMPost a comment
