Hoeffel has Some Skin in the Jobs Game

The Hoeffel campaign informs me that 1) his participation in the Congressional india Caucus is meaningless and they have never actually met. But appearances are reality in politics, I responded, and when the Caucus' purpose is to promote India's issues within the US and not US issues within India, it will be tough to tell unemployed US workers screwed by bad policy that the Caucus is meaningless. 2) Joe co-sponsored a bill in March..."The United States Workers Protection Act" (H.R. 3820), which "would prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to outsource or take offshore work presently done in the United States. This prohibition focuses on three areas of government contracting: privatizing of federal work, federal procurement of goods and services, and state government procurement using federal funds. Under this bill, state governments would not be eligible to receive federal funds unless they certify each year that these funds will not be spent offshore."

While I see some semantic problems in that description, it at least shows that Joe has a little skin in the game. Next we need him to take the lead on the issue and call for the outright ban of L1 visas and the strict enforcement of H1B visas. That would mobilize people behind Joe's campaign. As it is, I'd recommend focusing your efforts more on local elections until we see some stronger signs of toughness on the jobs and trade front.
